Pacifico "PJ" Ortiz Luis, also known as pacificYO on stage, is a multimedia artist that takes inspiration from performance art and nature. Through his experience and accomplishments as a performance artist, his work is designed to be interactive and to cater to a live audience. The works themselves are designed to evoke an emotion as if the visual works were being performed at a live show. While he has grown a reputation on Instagram through photography, his primary art medium will always be dance. He also will often express himself through other visual and performing arts such as embroidery and beatboxing.
His approach to photography is to have a unique identifiable visual trademark that differs itself from other artists in terms of style and content. To do this, each work almost exclusively is influenced or collaborated with performance artists to create work that lends itself to inerpretation by the creation of stories, poems, or music in the viewer's imagination.
Locally, his work has taken residence on the walls at Splash Wine Lounge, and has been featured in the Adams Avenue Art Festival. It has been featured on Balboa Park's Instagram account as part of an Instagram Takeover campaign. Internationally, one of his pieces was featured in El Comercio, a peruvian publication; AdWeek; and the Instagram Booth at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France.
