Rest in Piece Fuji Provia 400X

The announcement that Fuji will stop producing Provia 400X has me sad, but not surprised.  The film gave me amazing colors...but was definitely more expensive than it needed to be...which is why I've only shot two rolls of the film.  Here are some of my favorite shots from those 72 exposures:

Runaways

I've started a film photography project touching upon the topic of escapism.  More info on what this is about later...but heres photos from one of the rolls of 35mm Kodak Portra I shot at a recent shoot.  I'm excited for the next few models I have booked to shoot.

The Lion Tamer

I'm currently trying to accomplish the daunting task of creating a Dancer CV, and am going through a few years of records, blogs, journals, photos, videos, etc to properly notate everything.  I ran into an e-mail response to a business writing professor I had in 2007...

The assignment was to simply write a resume.  So I decided to turn in a resume applying for the job of a Lion Tamer.

Below is what he wrote me back after I turned it in:

Truly a “manly job.”
You’re one of the more interesting students I’ve had in a long time.
Please don’t become conventional like the rest of us.
But, keep your head in the “real world” too.

Definitely in introspective mode right now.  I'm not a conventional person by any means.  But I sometimes I feel like I'm still unsure what this concept of the "real world" is that people refer to.  To me, the real world is what you define as real.  I've heard people refer to it as something harsh and unforgiving...but I think its up to the person to define what the real world is to them.  To me, the real world is embracing the fact that I'm a little eccentric and using that to my advantage amongst people who live in their "real world".  The real world is a fun place to live in.  So take THAT professor!

P.S.  The photo of sea lions is because I haven't had the opportunity to photograph land lions yet.

The Black Mountain View

the real purpose of this post is to lure you with photos of my view from atop the mountain...and then bait and switch you with photos of the arachanids i came across.  they are gorgeous.  whether you believe in a deity or science...theres no arguing that the creation of these creatures is pure art.
