Wonderspaces v2: With Creative License

We recently took a trip down to the Judith A Bassett Canid Education and Conservation Center (JABCECC) to play with foxes! My friend, Lex (see her instagram here), absolutely loves foxes. With me being more familiar with ocean animals, this was a whole new world for me.
A few new things were learned:
- Russia domesticated foxes and bred them for their genetic mutations resulting in fur color and patterns
- Some foxes are raised and killed for their fur
- The foxes pictured are the same species (The white ones are not arctic foxes)
- Foxes make horrible pets, because they pee and poo everywhere (we were warned of this)
JABCECC is still under construction, but you can see them and some of their animal ambassadors around San Diego at local events. I recommend you check them out because they care very deeply about their mission, and their canines are just too adorable!

Yayoi Kusama - Infinity Room Exhibition
While we were in Seattle, we found out that Yayoi Kusama's exhibition was taking residence at the Seattle Art Museum so we NEEDED to go. The exhibition itself was very popular, as I found myself leaving my hotel room at 7:30am to walk to the museum. By the time I arrived, there were 28 people ahead of me. When the museum opened 2 hours later, there were easily 250-300 people behind me. Thankfully we had the hindsight to arrive early and experience the infinity rooms at the museum's opening hours, as we were able to immerse ourselves in the rooms multiple times. An hour into the exhibit the crowds started to pile into the exhibit and lines for the infinity rooms became much longer.
About the artist herself, please feel free to do a google search for Yayoi Kusama and watch her interviews as the way she explains her art is amazing. She has an obsession with polka dots and the concept of infinity, so much so that she regularly sees polka dots in everyday objects such as the whimsical pumpkin. Expanding on that, she also sees the universe as a collection of polka dots. The sun is a polka dot, the moon is a polka dot, the earth we stand on is a polka dot. The infinity rooms are a reflection of how she sees the universe, so by stepping into an infinity room you are essentially stepping into her mind.
Most of my time there was spent making this video, so I apologize for not having too many photos....with that said, this is something you are definitely going to want to experience in real life, instead of on a computer screen.

Sea Lion Pupping Season!
For this episode we are visiting La Jolla Cove to observe Sea Lion Pupping Season. Over 55% of the California Sea Lion population is born between the dates of June 15-22. This is because of the consistent copulation habits of the species.

Wonderspaces Pop-up Gallery
I was given an invite to check out Wonderspaces, a new pop-up gallery in San Diego. The gallery itself features room-sized installations of immersive and interactive art. The photos don't do it justice, as it is definitely an experience.
Even the vlog itself does not give the experience justice. You are fully able to immerse yourself in the worlds created by these artists. There are 3 Virtual Realty works where the artists masterfully craft a digital landscape for you to explore. The "Blooms" spinning sculpture exhibit is best viewed with the human eyeball. Many of the perspective-bending installations look 2D on camera, but play with your head in real life.
It is in San Diego from June 2 - July 30 2017....so check it out while you can!
